A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to five sexual offence charges when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court today (October 31).
The boy pleaded guilty to one charge of rape, one charge of attempted rape, one charge of sexual assault by touching and two charges of assault by penetration.

The charges relate to an incident which occurred when a 48-year-old woman was walking along a footpath in the vicinity of Esher Road and Pennyhill Park Hotel in Bagshot around 2.50pm on Friday, 27 June.

The boy approached the woman and physically attacked her before sexually assaulting and raping her. He fled after she screamed for help.

An investigation was immediately launched by the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team and the boy was arrested on 29 June.

Detective Inspector Sean Kelly said: “This was an appalling crime where the victim was put through a horrendous ordeal and I welcome today’s guilty plea.

“The offence has been made all the more shocking because of the age of the offender.

“This has been a complex investigation, including detailed forensic enquiries, which led to the offender being identified and put before the courts.

“I am aware that some members of the local community have been concerned that more than one offender was involved but I would reassure them that our extensive investigations have proven that this was not the case.”

The teenager has been remanded in custody, and is next due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, 7 November.
