A pedestrian making his way down an alleyway near to Bagshot rail station suffered facial injuries following an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 6 August).

The incident happened at around 3.10pm when the 62-year-old local man was walking on the path from Station Road to Wardle Close and was approached by the suspect who demanded money. The victim refused and a tussle ensued. The offender then made off in the direction of Bagshot railway station.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 40s, 5ft 6” tall and of a stocky build. He spoke with a southern accent.

PC Phil Potter investigating said: “I would urge anyone who was in the area and may remember any detail which might help locate the offender and bring him to justice to call me. This was an unprovoked assault on a local resident who was going about his everyday business when he was subjected to a violent attack. We need to find the person responsible and keep the neighbourhood a safe, pleasant place in which to live and work.”
